I frequently interview my children for their scrapbooks, to record their favorite things at various ages. It’s fun to look back at those pages and see how their interests change over time. Around age 2, I like to do a video interview, because at this age they’re becoming very verbal, and their little voices are so squeaky and cute. Tonight, I was watching DJ run around the back yard, yelling “Yee HAW! I a pony, Mom!” and I realized that today is the last day he’ll be officially 2 1/2. His birthday is February 1st, so tomorrow begins the rapid slide toward age 3.
I’m not ready for him to grow up….not even a little bit. When this realization hit me, I felt like I just wanted to capture him, just as he is right now, so I grabbed my video camera, and when he came in for his bubble bath, I asked him some questions. (The bathtub is a good place to interview a 2-year-old, because they’re usually calm and relaxed during bath time, and they can’t run away!)
My favorite parts of this video are when he told me his age, and his favorite things to eat! He’s such a funny, silly little guy. I sure do love him.

Wowza!!! He is so freakin’ cute! I mean, I thought he was adorable in the pictures but man. So cute! Lol! I didn’t expect your voice to sound like that, although I didn’t really have a voice in mind for you. (If that makes sense.) Anyway, thank you for sharing.
Kind of like radio DJs never look the way you expect them to? I always have a picture in my mind of what they must look like, based on their voices, but then when I see them they never look anything like that!
People always say that I have a little girl voice – they think I’m Bee on the phone all the time.
I just love the earnest look on his face when he answers the questions. He’s also too “busy working” putting bubbles in the cup to answer right away (just like a man!) He has important things to do! He’s so adorable.
DJ is soooo cute, this age is really awesome, my LO has 2yrs and 2months and is starting to talk more, is so hilarious.
Love the “interview” idea. What a great way to capture their sweet voices & what’s important to them at any age. I have a 7 year old daughter (2nd grader/aka mother-hen) and a 2 1/2 year old son (aka monkey/sword fighter/jumper).
I like your voice heather! So friendly!
he is unbelievably cute btw!!!!
I like your voice, too! It sounds so calming and reassuring, a perfect voice for a mom. The video of DJ makes me look forward to having kids, thanks for posting!
I want to eat him right up! You sound so sweet (You are!) and like a teenager
I literally had to listen again–you sound about 15!
Literally, I just want to eat DJ up!
Oh. My. Word! What a doll! And what a great idea! That reminds me, I’ve got to go back and read over your online scrapbooking posts. I just might add it to my to-do list!
