A Day at the Museum

Yesterday, after church, lunch, and a much-needed nap, we took the girls to the city to visit the Children’s Museum. The kids adore the museum, but for our family of 4, it typically costs $24 per visit. We used to take them only on Family Free Fridays, when the museum offers free admission after 5:00 PM on the last Friday of the month. The problem with Family Free Friday is that everyone goes at that time, so it’s a total zoo! Also, we can never get home in time for Babycakes to make her 7:00 bedtime, so she usually has a major meltdown. Not fun for anyone, as you can imagine.

My parents like to get us gifts that we can all enjoy as a family, so last year they purchased a family museum membership for us as a Christmas present. Now we can go whenever we want!

Yesterday, Bee enjoyed baking bread at City Grocery,

while Babycakes walked around doing her patented produce licking. Ugh…can you imagine how many germs are swarming on that plastic banana? Unfortunately, I can’t put hand sanitizer on her tongue!

Bee also loved making a pizza in the pizzeria,

while Cakes manned the front desk at the hospital. Grandma called many, many times.

Cakesie also cared for the babies in the nursery,

and of course, the day wouldn’t be complete if she didn’t put a baby onesie over her face and walk around until she banged into something,

Good Lord, what is wrong with that child?!

Bee played in the puppet theatre for a long time, making up princess stories for Daddy, who was a captive audience,

while Cakes pestered the poor turtle,

After we finished playing, we ate supper at the food court, which the kids love because they get to have whatever they want, instead of the dreadful slop that I “force” them to eat at home,

A carousel ride was the perfect ending to a fun (and exhausting) day,

On the way out to the car, Bee asked, “Can we come back tomorrow?!”

I told her that it would take Mommy at least a week to recover from today!

  1. We had a good time, didn’t we? Love, DH

  2. She’s not licking a germ-ridden banana: she’s boosting her immune system 🙂

  3. Looks like a TON of fun!!!! 🙂

  4. What a wonderful gift! Looks like the kiddos enjoyed themselves. LOL hand sanitizer for the tongue, Im all for something like that. I despise germs!!

  5. I sooo miss the Omaha Children’s Museum! Baylor has a small Children’s Museum but it doesn’t have any of the cool food stuff and grocery store…which the kids always liked the best.

  6. Oh Heather, your photos have brought back such lovely memories of enjoying the Children’s Museum at Navy Pier in Chicago with my boys when they were little. It was always such an adventure. I miss those sweet days.

My boys are still fun but they’re much more into bow practice and ATV riding these days.

The girls are just darling. I love their smiles.

  7. Looks like tons of fun!!! 🙂

  8. Looks like you all had fun!
